At Europe's biggest startup and tech event, this week, the New Energies Coalition participated in a round table, alongside Michelin & Beyond The Sea, organized by
Capgemini titled 'Sailing towards a greener future: the decarbonization of maritime transport’
What was at the heart of discussions?
➡️Demonstrating how digital technology can help reduce transportation’s carbon footprint, a challenge tackled by a specific Coalition working group. One concrete example of a data-driven innovation that we developed was the Eco-calculator which allow customers to understand the carbon impacts based on the ports of arrival and departure of a shipment.
➡️Discussing about the possibility of using sail propulsion as an upcoming working group’s next theme. The efficiency of sail propulsion equipment can be further increased by digital control and automation. Two examples of these are the telescopic masts and Michelin’s creative line of inflatable fabric wingsails.
Vivatech was a fitting place for the discussion, especially since the path towards decarbonization and energy transition is an effort that is largely driven by data and cross-sector collaboration.
Many of the New Energies Coalition members were mobilized for the occasion and took part to the event included
Airbus,
Amazon Web Services (AWS),
CMA CGM,
Crédit Agricole CIB,
ENGIE,
Michelin and
TotalEnergies.
