In 2022, international shipping was responsible for about 2% of global energy-related CO2 emissions 📈, yet it enables 80% of global trade 🌏. The path to decarbonizing this sector requires massive investment 💰 and innovation 🔍. With over 100,000 ships and numerous terminals to modernize, the challenge is colossal but achievable through our collective efforts 🤝.
The journey is capital-intensive, involving infrastructure replacement, retrofitting ships, and exploring carbon capture technologies 🌱. The coalition aims to create a more sustainable maritime transport ecosystem, emphasizing the need for financial, regulatory, and economic support to make a definitive shift towards environmentally respectful solutions 🌿.
